This project is part of INDOT’s TRAX Program in order to improve safety, mobility, and reduce crashes at local railroad crossings. This project is located on Colorado Street, just north of 69th Avenue, over the Canadian National Railroad. It is being converted from an at-grade crossing to a new 2-span prestressed concrete bulb-tee beam bridge with 1-lane in each direction and 10-foot sidewalk. This project has also accounted for future growth and traffic on Colorado Street.
Construction sequencing on Colorado Street will include railroad relocation of their facilities, then removal of the existing Colorado Street road, pile driving, construction of retaining walls, fill material to construct the road leading up to the new bridge, concrete bridge deck and railings, asphalt road, and pavement markings.
